European aviation sector calls for urgent flexibility in EES implementation

ACI EUROPE, together with A4E and IATA, has published an open letter to the President of the European Commission regarding the implementation of the Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES).

While the aviation sector supports the security objectives of EES, the current rollout is causing significant operational pressure at European airports, including long border-control waiting times, missed connections and disruption for passengers and airlines. The industry is therefore calling for immediate and pragmatic flexibility during peak traffic periods, especially throughout the busy summer months.
